Psychological help for patients.

Psychological help for patients.

HIV/AIDS poses a significant psychological burden.  People with HIV often suffer from depression and anxiety as they accept the consequences of a diagnosis of the infection and deal with the difficulties of living with a life-threatening chronic illness, such as shortened life expectancy, complex treatment regimens, stigma, and loss of social support from others. family or friends.

Goal.

HIV infection may be associated with a high risk of suicide or attempted suicide.  Psychological predictors of suicide in HIV-infected individuals include comorbid substance use disorders, a history of depression, and lack of hope.  Depression can range from mild to severe and its symptoms can affect your daily life.  To avoid this, we need the intervention of mental health professionals who can carry out both an individual and a group process where appropriate techniques will be applied to the needs of each patient. We know that good mental health will help them live fully and is essential for effective HIV treatment.  To help manage your mental health, it's important to know when, how, and where to get help.

Project details

Using a therapeutic process guided by a mental health professional, we can improve quality of life by eliminating bad habits, solving patient questions, improving internal and external relationships (social, family, marital).

Project plan.

An individual therapeutic process will be conducted with knowledge of each patient's process and history in order to tailor therapy to each patient's needs, focus groups will also be conducted, the technique is particularly useful to enhance the knowledge and experiences of each patient. people in an environment of interaction, which allows us to examine what the person thinks, how he thinks and why he thinks this way.

Working in a group facilitates discussion and activates participants to comment and express their views even on topics considered taboo, generating a great wealth of testimonials.

If necessary, family group therapies can be provided for the patient's interaction with his/her family environment, promoting a healthy family environment and full understanding of the identified patient. (Individual sessions last one hour, days vary depending on each patient's process, Group sessions range from 1 to 2 hours depending on group comfort).
